State of South African Betting Payments 2026
We compared the deposit methods, minimums and terms actually published by South Africa's licensed bookmakers — not what their marketing pages claim, what their own T&Cs and payment pages say. Six operators have fully verified payment data so far; here's what it shows.

Five findings
Range of minimum voucher deposits (1Voucher/OTT/Blu) across operators that publish a flat figure — a 5x spread for the same underlying voucher infrastructure.
Verified operators now accept Capitec Pay in some form — a payment method that barely existed in this market two years ago.
Still offer a physical branch cash deposit. Voucher and instant EFT have displaced cash even at operators built on retail networks.

1. The same voucher, a threefold difference in minimum deposit
1Voucher, OTT Voucher and Blu Voucher are accepted by all six operators in this dataset — but the minimum deposit for the identical voucher product isn't standardised. Among the operators that publish one flat figure: R5 at Hollywoodbets, R10 at Playa Bets, R25 at Betway. YesPlay's own site states a range of R20–R110 depending on the redeeming bank; Supabets and Lottostar don't publish a flat voucher minimum at all.
2. Capitec Pay has quietly become universal
Every one of the six verified operators now accepts Capitec Pay in some form — either the instant Pay@ app transfer, or bundled into their Ozow/card rails. Two years ago this wasn't a standard line item on an SA bookmaker's payments page; it now is everywhere we've checked.
3. Cash deposits are fading even at branch-network operators
Only Hollywoodbets and Supabets still offer a physical retail-branch cash deposit among the six. Betway, YesPlay, Playa Bets and Lottostar are online/voucher-only — including operators whose brand history is built on retail betting shops.
4. Kazang acceptance is a real gap, not a "no"
Kazang voucher deposits are confirmed accepted at three of six (YesPlay, Supabets, Lottostar). For the other three, we could not confirm acceptance either way from public sources — it isn't documented as declined, it simply isn't published, which is itself a data gap worth an operator's attention.
5. A voucher deposit condition nobody else in this market publishes
Lottostar's own terms and conditions require that the full value of the Voucher must be played through entirely
before any withdrawal is processed — on all seven voucher types and crypto, and this applies to money a player deposited themselves, not just bonus funds. We haven't found this condition documented on any comparison site covering this operator. It's the kind of term a player would only discover after depositing.

Scope & methodology
BetSherpa SA tracks 11 licensed South African bookmaker brands. This report covers the 6 where payment methods and minimums are fully verified against the operator's own published payments page or terms and conditions — Hollywoodbets, Betway, YesPlay, Supabets, Playa Bets and Lottostar. The remaining five (EasyBet, Sunbet, WSB, Zarbet, 10bet) are licensed operators we review, but their payment terms are either not yet published by the operator or the operator's site actively blocks automated and out-of-country access (geo-fencing, Cloudflare bot checks) — we'd rather show a gap honestly than fill it with a number from a third-party affiliate site.
