What a 1Voucher actually is
1Voucher is issued by Flash, the prepaid network whose blue terminals sit on the counter of something like a quarter of a million small retailers across South Africa. You hand over cash, the terminal prints a slip carrying a 16-digit PIN, and that PIN is spendable anywhere in the 1Voucher network — betting sites, online stores, streaming subscriptions, electricity.
Two things follow from that design, and both matter:
- It is a bearer instrument. Whoever holds the PIN owns the money. There is no name attached, no reversal, no dispute process. Treat the slip exactly as you would treat the equivalent in notes.
- It carries no fee. A R100 voucher costs R100. Flash pays the retailer a commission out of its own margin. If a vendor asks for R110 for a R100 voucher, they are pocketing the difference — walk out and buy elsewhere.

Need more than R4,000 in? Buy several vouchers and redeem the PINs one after another — they stack in your balance. At that size, though, instant EFT is faster and draws less attention at the till.
Where to buy a 1Voucher with cash
- Supermarkets: Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers and USave. Ask at the till or at the money-market counter.
- Spaza shops and street vendors running a Flash terminal — the blue device. In most townships this is the nearest and fastest option by a wide margin, and it is open long after the supermarkets close.
- Petrol station kiosks: most major forecourts.
- Any retailer displaying Flash or 1Voucher signage.
How to deposit a 1Voucher, step by step

- Open Deposit from the account menu.

In practice you should not care which one you use. Buy whichever the shop in front of you sells, and check your bookmaker takes it first — Betway and Supabets are the two that do not accept Blu.
Voucher Safety: the PIN is the money
- Never buy a discounted voucher online. “R500 voucher for R400” on WhatsApp, Facebook Marketplace or Telegram is always one of two things: a PIN that has already been redeemed, or a PIN bought with a stolen card that will be reversed. You have no recourse — a voucher PIN is a bearer instrument.
- Never read your PIN to anyone. Not to “Flash support”, not to a bookmaker agent, not to someone offering to “load it for you”. No legitimate company will ever ask you to read a voucher PIN aloud or send it in a message.
- Check the slip before you leave the till. A smudged or half-printed digit makes the voucher unredeemable, and the refund process runs through the issuer, not the shop — expect days, not minutes.
- Redeem it the same day where you can. A slip in your pocket is cash in your pocket. Lose it and it is gone.
Common problems and what causes them

Can I withdraw betting winnings to a 1Voucher?
Not to a 1Voucher, no. It is a deposit-only rail. Withdrawals go by EFT to a bank account in your own name once FICA clears.
